Vaccine Letter 04
05/28/xx
Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices(ACIP) For your convenience, this letter (including all of the
attachments) is
published on the Internet at: re: Hepatitus B Vaccine I received an email dated April 18th, 2023, from Medicare.gov. The email says:
Thanks to the prescription drug law that went into effect this year, even more vaccines are free for people with Medicare Part D. Examples of vaccines now covered under Medicare Part D include: Did ACIP send that email? If not, did ACIP get a "heads up" about Hep B being included on the list before the email went out? I am 70 years old. The above email seems to point blank say that my Medicare part D provider (Aetna) is required by law to pay the fees for my Hep B vaccine shots. Aetna refuses to pay. I am digging a little bit deeper. I would like to read the law. Can you provide me with a CFR citation, or a copy of the law please. On 1/1/23, what was the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for a 70 year old man with regard to Hepatitus B? Has it changed since 1/1/23? If it has changed, when (exactly) did it change? When should Aetna have been aware of the change? Please provide documentation. I tried to find the answers to these questions, and could not. Why is it hard to find this information? Is it a secret? Is Aetna justified in not knowing? Should they know? Do they know?
